Preparation
Ensure new concrete is allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days in
accordance with AS 3958.1-1991.
Allow rendered surfaces to cure for a minimum of 7 days prior to tiling.
Ensure surfaces are sound dry and free from movement oil grease wax
dust and any curing and release agents.
Steel toweled finished concrete surfaces must be mechanically or
chemically abraded prior to tilling.
The concrete must not exceed 5mm in 3meters maximum variation of
plane for floors and 4mm in 2 meters for walls.
Pour primer onto floor surface and spread the primer using a brush roller
or broom ensuring the entire area is primed.
Allow primer to dry for approximately 5 minutes before commencing tiling.
Expansion joints
Must be applied as follows:
Over existing joints in substrate.
Between two different substrates meet e.g.: Timber to concrete.
Around fixed elements e.g.: Columns.
At internal vertical corners.
Around the floor perimeter.
If Internal substrate dimensions exceed 15m or 9m if subjected to sun.
External floor dimensions exceed 6m.
Expansion joints must go through the adhesive bed to the background and
kept from adhesive or dirt. Expansion joints must not be less than 5mm or
greater than 100m in thickness.
Expansion joints must be filled with flexible filler like Polyurethane. All
expansion joints should be installed in accordance with AS 3958.1-1991.
Mixing
15kg of Uni Nova powder requires 5 lts of water.
Add water into a clean container and sprinkle Uni Nova slowly into liquid
while mixing continuously until a smooth lump free mix is obtained .Always
add powder to liquid.
Allow to stand for 5min and then restir. Adhesive is now ready to use.
Application
Once the substrate has been appropriately prepared in accordance with the
above instructions then apply the adhesive onto surface.
For floor tiles up to 330 x 330 in size a 10mm trowel should be used For
larger tiles a 12mm trowel should be used.
A 6mm trowel should be used when tiling Mosaics on floor
For wall tiles up to 200 x 250 in size a 6mm trowel should be used for
larger tiles a 8mm to 10mm trowel should be used.
Do not apply more than 1m2 of Uni Nova at a time applying rates greater
than this could result in adhesive skinning over.
To ensure no voids occur and full coverage of adhesive is achieved press
tile into adhesive giving a twisting and front and back sliding motion.
For tiles with uneven or lugs on the rear it may be required to butter the
rear of the tile in addition to applying adhesive on substrate.
Adhesive bed thickness should be at least 2 to 3mm.
Commence grouting after 6-8hrs when tile work is firm (refer to grout data
sheet for correct applications).
Clean up
Excess adhesive can be remover using a clean damp cloth while still wet.
Rake adhesive that has come out in-between joints using a knife or trowel.
Tools and other equipment can be cleaned up using water while the
adhesive is still wet.
Coverage

trowel.
