DESCRIPTION
Liquid additive designed for use with cement based mortars. Suitable for use with Sand/cement mixtures to improve strength adhesion flexibility and water resistance. Pot life and working times are maintained and modified mortars will remain easy to trowel.
FEATURES
- External grade
- Improve strength and flexibility
- May be used on areas to be immersed
- Thickened to better suit use with mortars
- Maintains workability
- Maintains working time
- Mortar will retain smooth trowel feel
BEST FOR
- Floors or walls
- External and internal applications
- Cement Mortar
- Concrete
- Sand/cement screeds
- Cement render
- Brickwork
PREPARATION AND USE
Always follow the installation requirements and recommendations for the chosen product relevant standards and good workmanship practices. Prepare substrates appropriately. Exact preparation will depend on nature of the installation. In general surfaces must be sound and free from friable material oils coatings and other contaminants that may affect the bond. Bond to substrate will be improved by treatment with ASA Multiprime or a slurry coat consisting of 2 parts ASA Mortafix mixed with 3 parts cement. Apply slurry to substrate and install Megalastic modified mortar while slurry is still wet.
MIXING
May be used neat or diluted into 2 3 parts water as required. Use neat or with low dilution when highest performance is required. Always add powder to liquid. As a guide the following mixing ratios may be considered. Note that these weights assume that the sand is dry and are general only. Most suitable ratios should are to be determined by suitable testing and trials. Adjustments will be required to compensate for sand moisture levels absorption and other physical properties.
General Use: Dilute 1:3 Mortafix to water (by volume)
Screed 1kg of cement and 3kg of dry sand mixed into 0.5L ASA Mortafix solution
Renders 1kg of cement and 3kg of dry sand mixed into 0.67L ASA Mortafix solution.
CONSUMPTION
Usage will depend on site requirements and dilution rates.
PACKAGING
20 litre plastic pails 5 litre and 1 litre jerry cans
CLEAN UP
ASA Mortafix can be removed from the surface of the tiles using a damp cloth while the product is still wet. A small amount of methylated spirits in wash-up water (1 cup into 20L water) can aid cleaning. Avoid spilling onto porous surfaces otherwise wash off immediately with water.
When mixed with cement based systems wash off with water while still soft. When cured mixed product may require mechanical removal.

SHELF LIFE
Unopened containers can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool dry and weatherproof environment. Do not allow contents to freeze.
IMPORTANT NOTES
Designed for use on suitable and adequately prepared surfaces.
Always check with substrate manufacturer when using on proprietary building products.
When using with simple sand/cement systems only use on concrete cement render blockwork and brickwork.
Note that most sand/cement mixing ratios assume that the sand is dry. Adjustments will be required to compensate for sand moisture levels absorption and other physical properties.
All workmanship must be carried out in accordance with relevant building standards and good workmanship practices.
