DESCRIPTION
ASA Asaphonic is a single component polyurethane tile adhesive with superior sound isolation properties. Due to its smooth consistency and chemical composition ASA Asaphonic imparts excellent acoustic thermal and impact isolation characteristics. ASA Asaphonic saves time and money due to the one step application resulting in reduced labour costs. ASA Asaphonic must be applied using the ASA Asaphonic Steel Trowel and is suitable for application to a variety of substrates including concrete cement render fibrous cement sheeting and timber floors.
FEATURES
- Provides excellent acoustic thermal and impact isolation characteristics
- Internal and external applications
- Long open time – allows for adjustments
- High initial grab tiles adhere immediately
- White
BEST FOR
Concrete
Cement render
Fibrous cement sheeting
Timber floors
Apartments
SURFACE PREPARATION
All substrates to be tiled must be firm sound clean smooth and totally dry and be free from dust. All loose material curing compounds and any contaminants or coatings likely to prevent the adhesive from bonding must be removed. Building boards must be fixed in accordance with the manufacturers printed directions. Waterproofing membranes must have cured in accordance with the manufacturers printed directions. Cement render must be allowed to dry for 7 days and concrete for 28 days. Timber must be sanded to expose a clean surface. Substrates which are not totally dry must be primed with ASA Dampfix Moisture seal. The ASA Dampfix Moisture seal must be fully dry prior to application of ASA Asaphonic
EXPANSION JOINTS
Movement joints must be incorporated in the tile layout in accordance with AS3958.1-1991 clauses 5.4.5.1 to 6.
MIXING
ASA Asaphonic is supplied ready to use. No mixing required.
APPLICATION
All tiles or stone being laid must be totally dry prior to application. Apply ASA Asaphonic to the substrate using the ASA Asaphonic Steel Trowel. Do not spread more than 1m² at a time. Push tiles into the adhesive before it skins over. The adhesive must fully support the tile. Any air voids will reduce acoustic isolation performance. Allow 24 hours before grouting. It is critical that the final ASA Asaphonic bed thickness be 4mm to achieve the desired acoustic isolation performance.
All workmanship must be carried out in accordance with AS3958.1-2007 and good workmanship practices
GROUTING
Commence grouting 24 hours after tiling. Use ASA Megalastic instead of water in the grout mixture. Using the ASA Asaphonic Steel Trowel and achieving a final bed of 4mm a 15 litre ASA Asaphonic will cover approximately 5m². On site coverage will vary widely as it is dependant on a large number of variables. These include but are not limited to: application technique substrate texture wastage trowel angle trowel wear contact coverage and surface planarity. As such coverage estimates are inaccurate.
CLEAN UP
ASA Asaphonic can be removed from the surface of the tiles using Handi- Clean Wipes while the adhesive is still wet. Tools and equipment can be cleaned with Handi- Clean Wipes prior to adhesive curing. If cured mechanical removal may be required.
STORAGE & SHELF LIFE
Unopened pails can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool dry and weatherproof environment. Do not allow contents to freeze
PACKAGING
15 litre metal pails
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Actual acoustic attenuation will vary depending on the nature of the structure. Any acoustic information supplied must be considered general only. If project specific acoustic attenuation information is required on site testing must be carried out.
- Suitable for thin bed applications only (final bed of 4mm)
- Must not be used over water based membranes or paint
- Substrate and tile or stone being laid must be totally dry prior to application as staining may occur
All workmanship (including movement joints) must be carried out in accordance with AS3958.1-2007
