DESCRIPTION
Silvershield is a water-resistant bitumen based coating containing minute flakes of pure aluminium which produces a protective silver surface with a tough bitumen barrier underneath.
USES
For the protection and preservation of metal and bituminous roofing metal structures farm machinery and external surfaces of water tanks.
Galvanised iron with only moderate rusting may be protected for a substantial period with a liberal application of Silvershield.
Ideal for applications in corrosive atmospheres marine situations and for water catchment roofs.
Excellent as a protective finish for Ormonoid Waterproofing Putty Brushable Waterproofer and Malthoid Roofing.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Easy to apply brush it on direct from the can.
Water resistant bitumen properties and U.V. reflective aluminium flakes provide two layers of protection in a single application.
Surface requires no priming enabling direct application on a wide variety of substrates from metal gutters and downpipes to bituminous roofing.
When applied to roofing can reduce the surface temperature by up to 100C keeping you cooler in summer.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface must be dry clean and free from grease wax oil and any loose or other material which may inhibit adhesion of the coating. Remove loose rust and scale with a wire brush prior to application. New metal or bituminous roofing should be allowed to weather for at least three months prior to application.
For roofs coated with bitumen allow the surface to cure for at least seven to ten days prior to applying the Ormonoid Silvershield.
APPLICATION
Do not apply Silvershield on extremely hot days when the surface is too hot to touch. Contents must be stirred thoroughly before and during use to avoid the aluminium flakes settling.
Using a soft paintbrush or roller brush in one direction only. For spraying purposes use an airless spray gun as recommended by spray equipment manufacturer.
Allow to dry for approximately 24 hours at 20ºC.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not use in association with strongly caustic or acidic materials.
Do not apply if the surface is too hot to touch.
Flammable. Store in dry place away from open fires stoves and heaters. Keep lid firmly closed.
Intended for external use only i.e. where it will be expose to direct sunlight.
